Mamelodi Sundowns’ search for new coach has now extended to Germany where former Karlsruhe and VfB Stuttgart coach Winfried Schafer is reported to be among the list of overseas coaches interested for the hot seat at Chloorkop next season.

Schafer is not new to Africa having won the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon in 2002.

Speaking to KickOff.com from France, Schafer’s agent Claude Siewe confirms that he has made contact with Sundowns.”Yes, it is true that we have submitted documents to Mamelodi Sundowns and are waiting for their response regarding their proposal,” said Siewe.

According to KickOff.com, another coach that has applied for the coaching position is French coach Wallemme Jean-Guy who is without a club after parting ways with Racing Club Lens in December.

Sundowns are under the guidance of caretaker coach Ian Gorowa after parting ways with Spanish coach Antonio Lopez Habas earlier this season.
