Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has rescinded his decision to quit international football.
The Manchester City star currently on loan with Real Madrid reached the decision after the Togo Football Federation sent a special emissary, Ms Foussena Djagba to convince him to return to the Hawks fold.
In order not to disrupt the ongoing restructuring of the Togo national team, Adebayor proposes his reintegration into the team be gradual and smooth.
“I will make myself available, with the authorization of my club, for all requisite/necessary orientation programmes and projects,” he said.
Adebayor has however ruled himself out of this weekend’s tie against Malawi despite being named in the 22-man squad for the Africa Nations Cup qualifier but would reclaim the captainship of his country when retursn to mainstream action.
In the interim, Adebayor promises to be on the road with his teammates anytime conducive and to give moral support to the team both on and off the pitch.
He takes the opportunity to wish his teammates the best of luck in their encounter with Malawi on Saturday in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The 26-year-old made the decision hang up his international boots following a shooting attack on the Togolese team convoy enroute to their team base in last year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Angola. The shooting claimed two lives of the Togolese delegation and dealt a serious injury to one of their goalkeepers which ended his football career.
