Striker Victor Obinna scored a hat trick to keep West Ham in the FA Cup with a 3-2 win against Championship side Nottingham Forrest.
The Nigeria international took just a little over three minutes to start impacting the game after deflecting in Mark Noble’s shot.
Yet Forest soon took control and Dele Adebola stuck out a foot to poke the ball past Robert Green for his first goal of the season.
The visitors’ second came after Chris Gunter’s free-kick caused total chaos in the home defence.
Frederic Piquionne’s only effort on goal in the opening half was at the wrong end and, while Green delivered a decent save from his own player, David McGoldrick reacted first and headed home.
West Ham’s players were booed off at half-time but at least they were level – courtesy of a cracker from Obinna.
He fired his effort from such an angle that at first it looked like a cross. Yet he had clearly spotted keeper Lee Camp off his line and his shot sailed into the far corner.
For the second time there was no celebration from Obinna.
West Ham started the second half well and Joel Lynch was penalised for a foul on Winston Reid.
Obinna made no mistake from the penalty and, on this occasion, he went crazy and started backflipping like an Olympic gymnast. Something else to have a good chuckle at.
