Goalkeeper Muteba Kidiaba scored the winning penalty to give TP Mazembe a 9-8 shootout victory over FUS Rabat after the teams played-out a 90 scoreless minutes in the African Super Cup final.
Kidiaba, whose dyed green hair, impressive stops and unusual celebrations were a mark of Mazembe’s historic run to the final of the Club World Cup last year, saved a penalty and then converted the clincher Saturday to give Mazembe its second straight Super Cup title.
Congo’s Mazembe, the 2010 African Champions League winner, became the first African club to reach the final of FIFA’s Club World Cup last year, where it eventually lost to Italy’s Inter Milan.
