Moucharaf Anjorin’s reign as the president of the Benin Football Federation (FBF) is under serious threat after mass resignations rocked the federation.
Twelve members of the 15-member executive committee resigned over the weekend accusing Anjorin of being a dictator.
The resignations have left the FBF in crisis as the remaining three members of the federation are unable to take decisions according to its constitution.
The resignations will seriously undermine Anjorin’s quest to win CAF executive committee elections which take place in Sudan in February.
A statement signed by all the 12 former members of the FBF accused Anjorin of isolating them from the federation’s affairs and taking unilateral decisions.
“We tried to work for the development of Benin’s football in a constructive and vigilant manner, but the reality is that President Musharraf Anjorin has a strong will to manage the affairs of the FBF all alone,” the statement read.
Moves are underway to find quick replacements for the 12 members who have resigned their posts for the operations of the FBF to resume.
Anjorin, who is a strong supporter of Issa Hayatou as the president of CAF, was counting on his connections at the continental governing body to win the vacant CAF West Africa B position.
But revelations of his dictatorial tendencies will not go down well with voters at the CAF elections early next year.
