Tottenham Hotspurs is the latest club to join the race to sign Everton’s midfielder Steven Pienaar who will be out of contract at the end of the season.
The Merseysiders have had several unsuccessful attempts to tie down the South Africa international and risk loosing him on a free transfer if he is not sold out when the transfer window opens in January.
Tottenham on the other hand have wanted to add a winger to their squad for some time now despite the resurgence of Aaron Lennon – who scored the late winner in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool – which has dissuaded the club from breaking the bank, with Aston Villa’s Ashley Young a previous target but have now focused attention on Pienaar.
Juventus, Arsenal, Liverpool and Sevilla have all lined up for Pienaar.
