Tottenham Hotspurs have popped out as surprise candidates to sign striker Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City in January.
The Champions League campaigners would however need to fork out in excess of 100,000 pounds every week to foot the huge wages of the former Togo international.
Man City were last week reported to have agreed on a January loan deal with Juventus for the 26-year-old but transfer rules in Italy which allows a club to sign only one non-EU player overrules the deal.
Juventus had already effected that provision with the signing of Milos Krasic who apparently is not an EU player but Spurs are set to hand the striker an escape route.
Adebayor has endured a torrid time under manager Roberto Mancini and is believed to be in favour of a move if prospective buyers can foot his huge wage bill.
