Nigeria draws Germany in Womens World Cup

African champions Nigeria were last night drawn with hosts Germany in the Group A of next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Canada and France completes the group.

Nigeria reclaimed their African title from Equatorial Guinea early this month but were last Thursday beaten convincingly by the Germans in a friendly.

Super Falcons coach Eucharia Uche however blamed the heavy 8-0 defeat on poor weather.

Africa’s other representative Equatorial Guinea were drawn in Group D alongside Brazil, Australia and Norway.

The tournament kicks of on June 26 with Germany playing Canada in the opening game.

Group A: Germany, Nigeria, Canada and France.

Group B: Japan, New Zealand, Mexico and England.

Group C: USA, Korea DPR, Sweden and Colombia.

Group D: Brazil, Australia, Norway and Equatorial Guinea.
