Senegal internationals are topping the list of African players plying their trade in Europe’s five top leagues, according to a research revealed by France Football.

In alphabetical order, the division one leagues in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain use 30 Senegalese footballers.

Cote D’Ivoire comes second with 28 players it supplies to those five top leagues, while Cameroon with 26 of its professionals is placed third ahead of Mali and Nigeria who each furnish 22 players.

During the 2002 World Cup in Japan/South Korea, Senegal defeated then reigning champions France with a squad composed of 80 per cent of players coming from the French top flight.
