Ghana league review: Hearts beats Kotoko again in Kumasi

Hearts beats Kotoko in week 9 fixture of Ghana league

Hearts of Oak inflicted a 1-0 defeat to arch rivals Asante Kotoko at their own backyard in the week 9 fixture in the Ghana league on Sunday.

It took a Douglas Nkrumah spot kick to hand the Phobians a third successive victory and the second consecutive defeat to  Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium – Kotoko lost 3-2 to King Faisal last week.

The win now puts Hearts third on the Premiership log with Kotoko dropping to fifth.

Elsehwere in the Ghana league, Mighty Jets did their survival campaign a lot of good with a 1-0 victory over Real Tamale United whiles Liberty Professionals fell 0-1 at home to a rejuvenated King Faisal.

Champions Aduana Stars lost 1-0 on the road to All Stars as Dwarfs played out a one all draw with New Edubiase.

Chelsea were 2-0 victors over local rivals BA Stars while AshantiGold were held one all at home by Arsenals.

The match between Heart of Lions and leaders Kessben FC was rained off and would be played on Monday.
