Mosimane overlooks Nomvete for Sierra Leone tie

Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane

South Africa coach Pitso Mosimane has left out Siyabonga Nomvete from the Bafana Bafana squad to face Sierra Leone in the 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier.

The Morroka Swallows striker has been in fine form for the ‘Birds’ especially in the MTN8 competition – putting him at the threshold of a recall but Mosimane has other ideas.

South Africa will be looking to maintain their top spot in Group G following their impressive opening 2-0 win over Niger with a win in Freetown on October 10.

Egypt is the other team in the group.

Bafana Bafana squad:

Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Moeneeb Josephs (Orlando Pirates), Darren Keet (BIDvest Wits)

Defenders: Siboniso Gaxa (Lierse, Belgium) Morgan Gould (SuperSport United), Tsepo Masilela (Maccabi Haifa, Israel), Aaron Mokoena (Portsmouth, England), Anele Ngcongca (KRC Genk, Belgium), Siyabonga Sangweni (Golden Arrows), Bongani Khumalo (SuperSport), Innocent Mdledle (Mamelodi Sundowns).

Midfielders: Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs), Teko Modise (Orlando Pirates), Thanduyise Khuboni (Golden Arrows), Reneilwe Letsholonyane (Kaizer Chiefs), Steven Pienaar (Everton, England), MacBeth Sibaya (Rubin Kazan, Russia), Andile Jali (Orlando Pirates)
