Mali's Diarra hangs international boots

Diarra ends international career with Mali

Sigamary Diarra says he does not want to play for Mali anymore, bringing the curtain down to a short international career.

The midfielder is rumoured to have arrived at the decision due to restricted action whenever he is called to national duty.

The Lorient midfielder who sometimes plays in attack, was mooted for sanctions by coach Alain Giress for failing to turn up for several call-ups.

Meanwhile, Malian-Barcelona star Seydou Keita has temporarily put on hold his international career due to fatigue.

The 30 year old featured frequently for Barcelona last season in their title wining season and will miss Mali’s opening 2012 Can qualifiers away to Cape Verde.
