Former Ghana coach takes St. George post

Dossena is new St. George coach

Former Ghana coach Giuseppe Dossena has taken the coaching reins at Ethopian side St. Gorge replacing Mitcho, who left the club by and mutual consent at the end of his contract in the end of June and has now joined Sudanese champions Almerich

.

Payment expenses of the coach will 52% be covered by sponsors and the other 48% footed by the fans.

“I am honoured to be taking on Ethiopia’s most successive football club,” the Italian told reporters.

He added: ”there is a great gap between Ethiopia and West African countries but we will work to minimize this gap.

“I am not a magician. I cannot change everything. But I am part of this project, together we can change. Again I am happy to be here.

Dossena handled Ghana from 1998-2000 and won the Africa Under-20 Youth Championship in 1999 with the Black Satellites on home soil.

St. George’s chairman Abnet G Meskel said he had no doubts of Dossena’s credentials.

“The Italian is a hugely experienced coach with a proven track record of wining trophies and his profile tells us that 90% of his jobs are successful and his best side is, he deems in youths, sby seeing these achievements we decided to have a two years contract, up to 2012” he said.

“What absolutely clear is that Dossena believes in Saint Georges potential to achieve at highest level, that is being the top four African clubs and importantly in his own ability to make this happen.” Abnet added.

Dossena was assistant of Cesare Maldini in Paraguay’s appearance at the 2002 Fifa World Cup. He also worked as an analyst for Italian broadcasting company.
 

Structurally the club will have a coach and two assistant one from Italy, Danielo and the well known Ethiopian footballer and former assistantof Mitcho, Dagnachew will continue his role at the club.
The Ethopian club hopes to achieve greater heights with the signing of the 52 year old tactician and has targeted the national league as well recapturing its Caf Champions league exploits some years back.
