Sunderland have completed the signing of Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan in time to beat the transfer deadline.
The 24-year-old underwent a medical on Tuesday morning before penning a four-year contract with the Black Cats.
Talks were stretched between Renne and Sunderland before finally a deal worth in excess of £13m was reached – smashing Sunderland’s transfer record.
Gyan shone for the Black Stars during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa scoring three goals that propelled Ghana to a quarter final finish.
